Been awhile. Sorry. Summer kind of got busy for both of us. But, indeed, we do have news and it is of an auditory nature. Unus Mundus has produced the first 7” single of the Tokyo BeerCore band Thirsty. Very apropos name for a band who constantly sacrifices neurons and liver cells to suds. The sound is good hardcore with numerous changes and growling vocals from Taro. Randy, who makes up the less humorous side of Unus Mundus (he tries, but some of us just have the comedic gift and others…play guitar and write awesome and heavy songs) has formed a tight 4-piece that just seems to get more and more of any praiseworthy adjectives used by music reviewers with each live show.
Unus Mundus has been organizing live shows with Thirsty and numerous other bands in Tokyo, as well as a show in Okinawa in November 2021. The shows do not simply feature hardcore or grindcore bands, but are generally omnibus shows featuring psychedelic noise, hip hop, experimental rock and whatever we think will drag people out of their abodes and into a club.

Give me a little more time to get the homepage up and fully operational with pics of Thirsty and videos of the live carnage. I’m an elder Gen X and while the homepage is supposed to be idiot-proof, I’d like to think that I am in a class to myself in terms of ineptitude.
We will also be producing two albums by the 1980s/90s-inspired Tokyo-based Fever Moon. Initially, the releases will be on Bandcamp and CD format. Thereafter, our aim is to release both albums in vinyl format. Yes, vinyl is back!
Fever Moon features Jay Holmes (@mysterycuts) who designed the first Unus Mundus t-shirt (link) who has woven an array of deeply personal lyrics and sewn them into a tapestry of 80s/90s multi-dimensional songs. While most of my musical leanings are hardcore, punk, acid rock, blues and soul, I did grow up in the era that Jay has time traveled to, and feel aspects of The Church, XTC, Husker Du, later Social Distortion, and the Psychedelic Furs in the albums. This is not a sappy “Remember the new wave days…Frankie sez Relax…Choose Life” trip down memory lane as the music contains more than the normal warps and wefts of most pop songs. This stands on its own and on the other side of bubblegum pop songs from that era.
